³⁰ and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away ^(A)the disciples after them.

⁷ which is not just another account; but there are some who are ^(A)disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

⁴ Yet it was a concern because of the ^(A)false brothers secretly brought in, who ^(B)had sneaked in to spy on our ^(C)freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to ^(D)enslave us.

^15 (A)Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even ^[a]from envy and strife, but some also ^[b]from goodwill;

^10 (A)For there are many ^(B)rebellious people, ^(C)empty talkers and deceivers, especially ^(D)those of the circumcision, ¹¹ who must be silenced because they are upsetting ^(E)whole families, teaching ^(F)things they should not teach ^(G)for the sake of ^[a]dishonest gain. ¹² One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “^(H)Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” ¹³ This testimony is true. For this reason ^(I)reprimand them ^(J)severely so that they may be ^(K)sound in the faith, ¹⁴ not paying attention to Jewish ^(L)myths and ^(M)commandments of men who ^(N)turn away from the truth. ^15 (O)To the pure, all things are pure; but ^(P)to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their ^(Q)mind and their conscience are defiled. ^16 (R)They profess to know God, but by their deeds they ^(S)deny Him, being ^(T)detestable and ^(U)disobedient and ^(V)worthless ^(W)for any good deed.

The Appearance of False Prophets

2 But ^(A)false prophets also appeared among the people, just as there will also be ^(B)false teachers ^(C)among you, who will ^(D)secretly introduce ^(E)destructive heresies, even ^(F)denying the ^(G)Master who ^(H)bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.

² ‘^(A)I know your deeds and your labor and ^[a]perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people, and you have ^(B)put those who call themselves ^(C)apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them to be false;
