¹⁶ Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus^(A) to avoid spending time in the province of Asia,^(B) for he was in a hurry to reach Jerusalem,^(C) if possible, by the day of Pentecost.^(D)

²² “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem,^(A) not knowing what will happen to me there.

²⁵ Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem^(A) in the service^(B) of the Lord’s people^(C) there.

¹⁶ I wanted to visit you on my way^(A) to Macedonia^(B) and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way^(C) to Judea.^(D)

³ Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve^(A) and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. ⁴ If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
