15 When he left there, he met Jehonadab son of Rechab coming to meet him; he greeted him and said to him, “Is your heart as true to mine as mine is to yours?”[a] Jehonadab answered, “It is.” Jehu said,[b] “If it is, give me your hand.” So he gave him his hand. Jehu took him up with him into the chariot.(A) 16 He said, “Come with me and see my zeal for the Lord.” So he[c] had him ride in his chariot.(B) 17 When he came to Samaria, he killed all who were left to Ahab in Samaria, until he had wiped them out according to the word of the Lord that he spoke to Elijah.(C)

“It is,” Jehonadab answered.

“If it is,” Jehu replied,[b] “Put out your hand.” So Jehonadab stuck out his hand, and Jehu took him up to stand in his chariot. 16 He told him, “Come with me and see my enthusiasm for the Lord!” So Jehu[c] had Jehonadab[d] ride in his chariot.

17 When Jehu[e] arrived in Samaria, he executed everyone who remained of Ahab’s household in Samaria, until he had utterly destroyed Ahab in accordance with the message from the Lord that he spoke to Elijah.
