Solomon’s Chariots and Horsemen

14 (A)And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen. (B)And he had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, and he stationed them in (C)the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 15 (D)The king also made (E)silver and gold as plentiful as stones in Jerusalem, and he made cedars as plentiful as sycamore trees that are in the [a]Shephelah. 16 Solomon’s import of (F)horses was from Egypt and from Kue; the king’s merchants procured them from Kue for a price. 17 And they [b]imported a chariot from Egypt for [c]600 shekels of silver and a horse for [d]150; and [e]by the same means they [f]exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.

Solomon’s Military and Commercial Activity

14 Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stone, and he made cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephe′lah. 16 And Solomon’s import of horses was from Egypt and Ku′e, and the king’s traders received them from Ku′e for a price. 17 They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; likewise through them these were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.
