⁶ For ^(A)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my ^(B)departure has come.

^23 (A)I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is ^(B)to depart and ^(C)be with Christ, for that is far better.

¹⁷ Even if I am to be ^(A)poured out as a drink offering upon ^(B)the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

^14 (A)since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, ^(B)as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

¹⁴ “And now ^(A)I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that ^(B)not one word has failed of all the good things^[a] that the Lord your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed.

Joshua to Succeed Moses

¹² The Lord said to Moses, “Go up into ^(A)this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. ¹³ When you have seen it, you also ^(B)shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, ^14 (C)because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing ^(D)to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are ^(E)the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) ¹⁵ Moses spoke to the Lord, saying, ¹⁶ “Let the Lord, ^(F)the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation ¹⁷ who ^(G)shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the Lord may not be ^(H)as sheep that have no shepherd.”

²¹ Then Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am about to die, but ^(A)God will be with you and will bring you again to the land of your fathers.

Joshua Commissioned to Lead Israel

¹⁴ And the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Behold, the days approach when you must die. Call Joshua and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that ^(B)I may commission him.” And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tent of meeting.

²⁴ And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but ^(A)God will visit you and bring you up out of this land to the land ^(B)that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
