⁵ As for you, be sober in everything, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.^(A)

¹³ Therefore prepare your minds for action;^[a] discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.^(A)

¹⁷ And say to Archippus, “See that you complete the task that you have received in the Lord.”^(A)

Paul’s Charge to Timothy

¹⁰ Now you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness,^{(A) 11} my persecutions, and my sufferings, the things that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.^{(B) 12} Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.^(C)

¹² Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.^(A)
