²⁰ Erastus remained at Corinth, and I left ^(A)Trophimus, who was ill, at Miletus.

⁴ Sopater the Berean, son of Pyrrhus, accompanied him; and of the Thessalonians, ^(A)Aristarchus and Secundus; and ^(B)Gaius of Derbe, and ^(C)Timothy; and the Asians, ^(D)Tychicus and ^(E)Trophimus.

²⁶ for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. ²⁷ Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

²⁹ For they had previously seen ^(A)Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.

²² And having sent into Macedonia two of ^(A)his helpers, ^(B)Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia ^(C)for a while.

^23 (A)Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus, greet you.^[a]

¹⁵ And sailing from there we came the following day opposite Chios; the next day we touched at Samos; and^[a] the day after that we went to Miletus.

Paul Speaks to the Ephesian Elders
