²⁰ But in a great house there are not only ^(A)vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.

⁵ you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

²¹ Does not the ^(A)potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make ^(B)one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?

²² What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering ^(C)the vessels of wrath ^(D)prepared for destruction, ²³ and that He might make known ^(E)the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had ^(F)prepared beforehand for glory,

Cast Down but Unconquered

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, ^(A)that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

⁹ For ^(A)we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are ^(B)God’s building.

⁶ And all those who were around them ^[a]encouraged them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with precious things, besides all that was ^(A)willingly offered.

¹⁵ but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ^[a]ground of the truth.

^22 (A)in whom you also are being built together for a ^(B)dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
