^3 (A)Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, ^(B)unless the rebellion comes first, and ^(C)the man of lawlessness^[a] is revealed, ^(D)the son of destruction,^[b]

⁴ And Jesus answered them, ^(A)“See that no one leads you astray. ⁵ For ^(B)many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am ^(C)the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. ⁶ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you ^(D)are not alarmed, for this ^(E)must take place, but the end is not yet.

Warning Concerning Antichrists

¹⁸ Children, ^(A)it is the last hour, and as you have heard that ^(B)antichrist is coming, so now ^(C)many antichrists have come. ^(D)Therefore we know that it is the last hour.

Some Will Depart from the Faith

4 Now ^(A)the Spirit expressly says that ^(B)in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to ^(C)deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, ² through the insincerity of ^(D)liars whose consciences are seared, ^3 (E)who forbid marriage and ^(F)require abstinence from foods ^(G)that God created ^(H)to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

^6 (A)Let no one ^(B)deceive you with empty words, for because of these things ^(C)the wrath of God comes upon ^(D)the sons of disobedience.

⁸ And then ^(A)the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus ^(B)will kill with ^(C)the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by ^(D)the appearance of his coming. ⁹ The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan ^(E)with all power and false signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with all wicked deception for ^(F)those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

^3 (A)For the time is coming when people will not endure ^(B)sound^[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, ⁴ and ^(C)will turn away from listening to the truth and ^(D)wander off into myths.

Godlessness in the Last Days

3 But understand this, that ^(A)in the last days there will come times of difficulty. ² For people will be ^(B)lovers of self, ^(C)lovers of money, ^(D)proud, ^(E)arrogant, abusive, ^(F)disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, ^3 (G)heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, ^(H)not loving good,
