¹⁶ Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and carried and brought it to David. But he would not drink of it. He poured it out to the Lord

¹⁴ And Jacob ^(A)set up a pillar in the place where he had spoken with him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering on it and poured oil on it.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ ^(A)controls us, because we have concluded this: that ^(B)one has died for all, therefore all have died;

¹⁷ Even if I am to be ^(A)poured out as a drink offering upon ^(B)the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.

⁷ For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—

⁶ So they gathered at ^(A)Mizpah ^(B)and drew water and poured it out before the Lord ^(C)and fasted on that day and said there, ^(D)“We have sinned against the Lord.” And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah.

⁷ Its drink offering shall be a quarter of a hin for each lamb. In the Holy Place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the Lord.

²⁴ But ^(A)I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only ^(B)I may finish my course and ^(C)the ministry ^(D)that I received from the Lord Jesus, ^(E)to testify to ^(F)the gospel of ^(G)the grace of God.

⁹ And next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar the son of ^(A)Dodo, son of ^(B)Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel withdrew.
