⁸ And I gave you your master's house and your master's wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more.

⁷ And David said to him, “Do not fear, ^(A)for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and ^(B)you shall eat at my table always.”

^32 (A)He who did not spare his own Son but ^(B)gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

¹¹ Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.

¹⁹ And yet this was a small thing in your eyes, O Lord God. ^(A)You have spoken also of your servant's house for a great while to come, and this is instruction for mankind, O Lord God!

^5 (A)At Hebron he reigned over Judah ^(B)seven years and six months, and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.^[a]

⁴ And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David ^(A)king over the house of Judah.

When they told David, ^(B)“It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul,”

¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? ^(A)Why did you pounce on the spoil and do what was evil in the sight of the Lord?”
