²⁶ When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she lamented over her husband.

² And Joab sent to ^(A)Tekoa and brought from there a wise woman and said to her, “Pretend to be a mourner and put on mourning garments. ^(B)Do not anoint yourself with oil, but behave like a woman who has been mourning many days for the dead.

David Mourns Abner

³¹ Then David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, ^(A)“Tear your clothes and ^(B)put on sackcloth and mourn before Abner.” And King David followed the bier.

⁴¹ Now Esau ^(A)hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him, and Esau said to himself, ^(B)“The days of mourning for my father are approaching; ^(C)then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
