Jesus Comforts the Sisters of Lazarus

¹⁷ On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.^(A)

⁵² Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning^(A) for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”^(B)

⁵³ They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.

¹⁷ Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.
