⁸ Then Elijah ^(A)took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water, ^(B)and the water was parted to the one side and to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry ground.

¹⁴ Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water, saying, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” And when he had struck the water, ^(A)the water was parted to the one side and to the other, and Elisha went over.

The Call of Elisha

¹⁹ So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast ^(A)his cloak upon him.

²¹ Then Moses ^(A)stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by ^(B)a strong east wind all night and ^(C)made the sea dry land, and the waters were ^(D)divided. ²² And ^(E)the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being ^(F)a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

¹³ And when Elijah heard it, ^(A)he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, ^(B)there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

¹⁴ So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing ^(A)the ark of the covenant before the people, ¹⁵ and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and ^(B)the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now ^(C)the Jordan overflows all its banks ^(D)throughout the time of harvest), ¹⁶ the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside ^(E)Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of ^(F)the Arabah, ^(G)the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho. ¹⁷ Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, ^(H)and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan.

¹² The sixth angel poured out his bowl on ^(A)the great river Euphrates, and ^(B)its water was dried up, ^(C)to prepare the way for the kings ^(D)from the east.
