¹⁹ Now the men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees, but the water is bad, and the land is unfruitful.”

² And all these blessings shall come upon you and ^(A)overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. ³ Blessed shall you be in the city, and ^(B)blessed shall you be in the field. ⁴ Blessed shall be ^(C)the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock.

¹¹ And ^(A)the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in ^(B)the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, within the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.

^26 (A)None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the ^(B)number of your days.

Curses for Disobedience

¹⁵ “But ^(A)if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all his commandments and his statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and ^(B)overtake you. ¹⁶ Cursed shall you be ^(C)in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock.

⁷ And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. And Obadiah recognized him and fell on his face and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”

^34 (A)In his days Hiel of Bethel built ^(B)Jericho. He laid its foundation at the cost of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

²⁶ Joshua laid an oath on them at that time, saying, ^(A)“Cursed before the Lord be the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho.

¹⁷ And the city and all that is within it shall be ^(A)devoted to the Lord for destruction.^[a] Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall live, because she ^(B)hid the messengers whom we sent.
