³⁴ Where are the gods of ^(A)Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim and Hena and ^(B)Ivah? Indeed, have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

Judgment on Damascus

^23 (A)Against Damascus.

⁵ But the Chaldean army pursued them and ^(A)overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And when they had captured him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to ^(B)Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.

¹³ Where is the king of ^(A)Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?’ ”

¹⁴ And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. ¹⁵ Then Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying: ¹⁶ “O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You ^(B)alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. Therefore they destroyed them. ²⁰ Now therefore, O Lord our God, ^(G)save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may ^(H)know that You are the Lord, You alone.”

Assyria Resettles Samaria

^24 (A)Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, ^(B)Ava, Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they took possession of Samaria and dwelt in its cities.

⁸ from Mount Hor you shall mark out your border ^(A)to the entrance of Hamath; then the direction of the border shall be toward ^(B)Zedad;
