The Cheerful Giver

⁶ The point is this: ^(A)whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully^[a] will also reap bountifully. ⁷ Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, ^(B)not reluctantly or under compulsion, for ^(C)God loves a cheerful giver.

^10 (A)Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby ^(B)put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open ^(C)the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

^48 (A)But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, ^(B)will receive a light beating. ^(C)Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

²¹ Jesus said to him, “If you would be ^(A)perfect, go, ^(B)sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have ^(C)treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” ^22 (D)When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

²³ And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, ^(E)only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. ^24 (F)Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter ^(G)the kingdom of God.”
