² that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and ^(A)their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brethren: ^(A)Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be ^(B)rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom ^(C)which He promised to those who love Him?

⁴ except when there may be no poor among you; for the Lord will greatly ^(A)bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance—

⁹ “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are ^(A)rich); and I know the blasphemy of ^(B)those who say they are Jews and are not, ^(C)but are a ^[a]synagogue of Satan.

^3 (A)that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that ^(B)we are appointed to this. ^4 (C)For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.

¹⁴ For you, brethren, became imitators ^(A)of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For ^(B)you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans,

⁶ And ^(A)you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, ^(B)with joy of the Holy Spirit,

¹³ while, through the proof of this ministry, they ^(A)glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal ^(B)sharing with them and all men,

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many ^(A)rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

^8 (A)he who exhorts, in exhortation; ^(B)he who gives, with liberality; ^(C)he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, ^(D)with cheerfulness.
