The Corinthians’ Repentance

7 Therefore,^(A) having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

⁷ For God did not call us to uncleanness, ^(A)but in holiness.

^8 (A)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ^(B)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and ^(C)purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Living Before the World

¹¹ Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts ^(A)which war against the soul,

^25 (A)Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you ^(B)from all your filthiness and from all your idols. ²⁶ I will give you a ^(C)new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

^3 (A)And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

^4 (A)by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be ^(B)partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the ^[a]corruption that is in the world through lust.

Fruitful Growth in the Faith

⁵ But also for this very reason, ^(C)giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue ^(D)knowledge, ⁶ to knowledge self-control, to self-control ^[b]perseverance, to perseverance godliness, ⁷ to godliness brotherly kindness, and ^(E)to brotherly kindness love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither ^[c]barren ^(F)nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
