Final Warnings

13 ^(A)This is the third time I am coming to you. Every charge must be established ^(B)by the evidence of two or three witnesses.

¹⁶ But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established ^(A)by the evidence of two or three witnesses.

Laws Concerning Witnesses

¹⁵ “A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. ^(A)Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established.

^6 (A)On the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.

¹⁴ Here ^(A)for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for ^(B)I seek not what is yours but you. For ^(C)children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but ^(D)parents for their children.

^17 (A)In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. ¹⁸ I am the one who bears witness about myself, and ^(B)the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”

³⁰ “If anyone kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death on the ^(A)evidence of witnesses. But no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.

¹⁰ And set two ^(A)worthless men opposite him, and let them bring a charge against him, saying, ^(B)‘You have cursed^[a] God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”

^28 (A)Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy ^(B)on the evidence of two or three witnesses. ²⁹ How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one ^(C)who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned ^(D)the blood of the covenant ^(E)by which he was sanctified, and has ^(F)outraged the Spirit of grace?

¹³ And the two worthless men came in and sat opposite him. And the worthless men brought a charge against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king.” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.
