¹⁶ For now I have chosen and consecrated this house so that my name may be there forever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time.^(A)

¹⁵ Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.^(A)

God’s Second Appearance to Solomon

¹² Then the Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.^(A)

⁵ ‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any of the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, so that my name might be there, and I chose no one as ruler over my people Israel, ⁶ but I have chosen Jerusalem in order that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’^(A)

³ The Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your plea that you made before me; I have consecrated this house that you have built and put my name there forever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time.^(A)

²⁰ May your eyes be open day and night toward this house, the place where you promised to set your name, and may you heed the prayer that your servant prays toward this place.

⁹ For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

¹⁹ Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”^{(A) 20} The Jews then said, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?” ²¹ But he was speaking of the temple of his body.^(B)

¹⁷ And a voice from the heavens said, “This is my Son, the Beloved,^[a] with whom I am well pleased.”^(A)

² And the Lord said to the accuser,^[a] “The Lord rebuke you, O accuser!^[b] The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this man a brand plucked from the fire?”^(A)
