⁹ nevertheless, you shall not build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’

¹¹ When your days are fulfilled to go to be with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.

⁴ “Go and tell my servant David: Thus says the Lord: You shall not build me a house to live in.^(A)
