⁷ They also shut the doors of the vestibule and put out the lamps and have not offered incense or made burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.

²⁴ Ahaz gathered together the utensils of the house of God and cut in pieces the utensils of the house of God. He shut up the doors of the house of the Lord and made himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem.^(A)

² “Command the Israelites to bring you pure oil of beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning regularly.^{(A) 3} Aaron shall set it up in the tent of meeting, outside the curtain of the covenant, to burn from evening to morning before the Lord regularly; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. ⁴ He shall set up the lamps on the lampstand of pure gold^[a] before the Lord regularly.^(B)

The Bread for the Tabernacle

⁵ “You shall take choice flour and bake twelve loaves of it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each loaf.^{(C) 6} You shall place them in two rows, six in a row, on the table of pure gold before the Lord.^{[b](D) 7} You shall put pure frankincense with each row, to be a token offering for the bread, as an offering by fire^[c] to the Lord. ⁸ Every Sabbath day Aaron shall set them in order before the Lord regularly as a commitment of the Israelites, as a covenant forever.^(E)

¹⁰ Oh, that someone among you would shut the temple^[a] doors, so that you would not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hands.^(A)

The Temple Cleansed

³ In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of the Lord and repaired them.^(A)

¹⁷ Then King Ahaz cut off the frames of the stands and removed the laver from them; he removed the sea from the bronze oxen that were under it and put it on a pediment of stone.^{(A) 18} The covered portal for use on the Sabbath that had been built inside the palace and the outer entrance for the king he removed from^[a] the house of the Lord. He did this because of the king of Assyria.
