³ He built the upper gate of the house of the Lord and did extensive building on the wall of Ophel.^(A)

¹⁴ Afterward he built an outer wall for the city of David west of Gihon, in the valley, reaching the entrance at the Fish Gate; he carried it around Ophel and raised it to a very great height. He also put commanders of the army in all the fortified cities in Judah.^(A)

²⁶ and the temple servants living^[a] on Ophel made repairs up to a point opposite the Water Gate on the east and the projecting tower.^{(A) 27} After him the Tekoites repaired another section opposite the great projecting tower as far as the wall of Ophel.

² Then Pashhur struck the prophet Jeremiah and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Benjamin Gate of the house of the Lord.^(A)

²⁰ And he took the captains, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the Lord, marching through the upper gate to the king’s house. They set the king on the royal throne.^(A)
