¹⁰ He defiled Topheth,^(A) which is in the Valley of Hinnom,^(B) so that no one could make his son or daughter pass through the fire^(C) to Molech.^(D)

³ He burned incense in the Valley of Hinnom^(A) and burned his children in^[a](B) the fire, imitating the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had dispossessed before the Israelites.^(C)

³¹ They have built the high places of Topheth^[a](A) in the Valley of Hinnom^[b](B) in order to burn their sons and daughters in the fire,^(C) a thing I did not command; I never entertained the thought.^[c]

³² “Therefore, take note! Days are coming”^(D)—the Lord’s declaration—“when this place will no longer be called Topheth and the Valley of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.^(E) Topheth will become a cemetery,^[d] because there will be no other burial place.
