²⁶The Lord had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free,^(A) was suffering;^[a]^(B) there was no one to help them.^(C)

²⁶For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

no one to give answer^(C) when I ask them.

²⁸For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
