22 (A)Now Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they (B)provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done. 23 For they also built for themselves (C)high[a] places, (D)sacred pillars, and (E)wooden images on every high hill and (F)under every green tree. 24 (G)And there were also [b]perverted persons in the land. They did according to all the (H)abominations of the nations which the Lord had cast out before the children of (I)Israel.

25 (J)It happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. 26 (K)And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he took away everything. He also took away all the gold shields (L)which Solomon had made. 27 Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and [c]committed them to the hands of the captains of the [d]guard, who guarded the doorway of the king’s house.

22 Judah(A) did evil in the eyes of the Lord. By the sins they committed they stirred up his jealous anger(B) more than those who were before them had done. 23 They also set up for themselves high places, sacred stones(C) and Asherah poles(D) on every high hill and under every spreading tree.(E) 24 There were even male shrine prostitutes(F) in the land; the people engaged in all the detestable(G) practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.

25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt attacked(H) Jerusalem. 26 He carried off the treasures of the temple(I) of the Lord and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including all the gold shields(J) Solomon had made. 27 So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.(K)
