11 3 After the death of Saul, David is anointed in Hebron. 5 The Jebusites rebel against David, from whom he taketh the tower of Zion. 6 Joab is made captain. 10 His valiant men.

Then (A)all Israel [a]gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bones and thy flesh.

And in time past, even when Saul was king, thou leddest Israel out and in: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be captain over my people Israel.

So came all the Elders of Israel to the King to Hebron, and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel, (B)according to the word of the Lord, by the hand of Samuel.
