⁷ desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.

Depravity of False Teachers

¹² But these, ^(A)like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption,

^22 (A)Professing to be wise, they became fools,

⁴ he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,

The Elders’ Task

¹⁰ For there are many insubordinate, both idle ^(A)talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, ¹¹ whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, ^(B)for the sake of dishonest gain.

⁷ always learning and never able ^(A)to come to the knowledge of the truth.

¹⁹ and ^(A)are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, ^(B)having the form of knowledge and truth in the law. ^21 (C)You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?

³ And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised ^(A)that he is ^[a]a debtor to keep the whole law. ^4 (B)You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; ^(C)you have fallen from grace.

Two Covenants^(A)

²¹ Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law?

⁵ Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—
