⁹ (Formerly in Israel, when a man ^(A)went to inquire of God, he said, “Come, let us go to the seer,” for today's “prophet” was formerly called a seer.)

¹² And Amaziah said to Amos, ^(A)“O seer, go, flee away ^(B)to the land of Judah, and ^(C)eat bread there, and prophesy there,

²⁹ Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the Chronicles ^(A)of Samuel the seer, and in the Chronicles of ^(B)Nathan the prophet, and in the Chronicles of ^(C)Gad the seer,

²⁸ Also all that ^(A)Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated—all dedicated gifts were in the care of ^(B)Shelomoth^[a] and his brothers.

¹³ Yet the Lord ^(A)warned Israel and Judah ^(B)by every prophet ^(C)and every seer, saying, ^(D)“Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

¹¹ And when David arose in the morning, the word of the Lord came to ^(A)the prophet Gad, David's ^(B)seer, saying,

²² The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?”^[a] So she went ^(A)to inquire of the Lord.
