¹³ So David and his men, ^(A)about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah and went wherever they could go. Then it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah; so he halted the expedition.

¹³ Then David said to his men, “Every man gird on his sword.” So every man girded on his sword, and David also girded on his sword. And about four hundred men went with David, and two hundred ^(A)stayed with the supplies.

^2 (A)And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was ^[a]discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about ^(B)four hundred men with him.

⁹ So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the Brook Besor, where those stayed who were left behind. ¹⁰ But David pursued, he and four hundred men; ^(A)for two hundred stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor.

²⁰ In fact, you came only yesterday. Should I make you wander up and down with us today, since I go ^(A)I know not where? Return, and take your brethren back. Mercy and truth be with you.”
