¹³ So David and his men,^(A) about six hundred in number, left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he did not go there.

¹³ David said to his men^(A), “Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went^(B) up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.^(C)

² All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered^(A) around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.

⁹ David and the six hundred men^(A) with him came to the Besor Valley, where some stayed behind. ¹⁰ Two hundred of them were too exhausted^(B) to cross the valley, but David and the other four hundred continued the pursuit.

²⁰ You came only yesterday. And today shall I make you wander^(A) about with us, when I do not know where I am going? Go back, and take your people with you. May the Lord show you kindness and faithfulness.”^[a](B)
