^35 (A)And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who shall do according to what is in my heart and in my mind. ^(B)And I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before ^(C)my anointed forever.

²⁷ For you, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have made this revelation to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you.

^11 (A)from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And ^(B)I will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, the Lord declares to you that ^(C)the Lord will make you a house.

³⁸ And if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do what is right in my eyes by keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, ^(A)I will be with you and ^(B)will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.

²⁸ Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the Lord will certainly make my lord ^(A)a sure house, because my lord ^(B)is fighting the battles of the Lord, and evil shall not be found in you so long as you live.

^35 (A)The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada over the army in place of Joab, and the king put ^(B)Zadok the priest ^(C)in the place of Abiathar.

²⁶ For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, ^(A)holy, innocent, unstained, ^(B)separated from sinners, and ^(C)exalted above the heavens. ²⁷ He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, ^(D)first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this ^(E)once for all when he offered up himself. ²⁸ For the law appoints men ^(F)in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made ^(G)perfect forever.

¹⁷ Therefore he had ^(A)to be made like his brothers in every respect, ^(B)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest ^(C)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
