Christ’s Example to Be Followed

4 Therefore, since Christ suffered ^[a]for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

²⁴ And those who are Christ’s ^(A)have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Christ’s Suffering and Ours

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring ^[a]us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

¹¹ Likewise you also, ^[a]reckon yourselves to be ^(A)dead indeed to sin, but ^(B)alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

^3 (A)For you died, ^(B)and your life is hidden with Christ in God. ^4 (C)When Christ who is ^(D)our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in ^(E)glory.

^5 (F)Therefore put to death ^(G)your members which are on the earth: ^(H)fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, ^(I)which is idolatry.

²⁰ I have been ^(A)crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh ^(B)I live by faith in the Son of God, ^(C)who loved me and gave Himself for me.

^13 (A)Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand ^(B)in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

⁷ For ^(A)he who has died has been ^[a]freed from sin.
