Solomon Prays for Wisdom

(B)In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, (C)and have made me king in his place. O Lord God, (D)let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous (E)as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge to (F)go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” 11 God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for (G)possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you (H)riches, possessions, and honor, (I)such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.”

32 The number of the burnt offerings that the assembly brought was 70 bulls, 100 rams, and 200 lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord. 33 And the consecrated offerings were 600 bulls and 3,000 sheep. 34 But the priests were too few and could not flay all the burnt offerings, so until other priests had consecrated themselves, (A)their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was finished—(B)for the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in consecrating themselves. 35 Besides the great number of burnt offerings, there was (C)the fat of the peace offerings, and there were (D)the drink offerings for the burnt offerings. Thus the service of the house of the Lord was restored.
