³ And Solomon ^(A)loved the Lord, ^(B)walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.

^5 (A)You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, ^(B)with all your soul, and with all your strength.

³ But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.

¹⁶ in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.

¹⁴ So ^(A)if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, ^(B)as your father David walked, then I will ^(C)lengthen^[a] your days.”

^6 (A)And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he ^(B)walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You ^(C)have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

²⁰ that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your ^(A)life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

The Essence of the Law

¹² “And now, Israel, ^(A)what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to ^(B)love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

² By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and ^(A)keep His commandments. ^3 (B)For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And ^(C)His commandments are not burdensome.
