²⁹ About that time Jeroboam was going out of Jerusalem, and Ahijah^(A) the prophet of Shiloh met him on the way, wearing a new cloak. The two of them were alone out in the country,

Solomon’s Death^(A)

²⁹ As for the other events of Solomon’s reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Nathan^(B) the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah^(C) the Shilonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam^(D) son of Nebat?

² and Jeroboam said to his wife, “Go, disguise yourself, so you won’t be recognized as the wife of Jeroboam. Then go to Shiloh. Ahijah^(A) the prophet is there—the one who told me I would be king over this people.

¹⁵ So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from the Lord,^(A) to fulfill the word the Lord had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah^(B) the Shilonite.

⁶ I your servant had two sons. They got into a fight with each other in the field, and no one was there to separate them. One struck the other and killed him.

Division of the Rest of the Land

18 The whole assembly of the Israelites gathered at Shiloh^(A) and set up the tent of meeting^(B) there. The country was brought under their control,

⁸ Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”^[a] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.^(A)
