^3 (A)that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed ^(B)our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⁴ And we are writing these things so ^(C)that our^[a] joy may be complete.

Walking in the Light

^5 (D)This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that ^(E)God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ^6 (F)If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and ^(G)do not practice the truth. ⁷ But ^(H)if we walk in the light, ^(I)as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and ^(J)the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

For God So Loved the World

¹⁶ “For ^(A)God so loved ^(B)the world,^{[a] (C)}that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not ^(D)perish but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For ^(E)God did not send his Son into the world ^(F)to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ^18 (G)Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not ^(H)believed in the name of the only Son of God.

¹² But to all who did receive him, ^(A)who believed in his name, ^(B)he gave the right ^(C)to become ^(D)children of God, ¹³ who ^(E)were born, ^(F)not of blood ^(G)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁰ as it is written:

²³ for ^(A)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

^23 (A)For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁹ because, if ^(A)you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and ^(B)believe in your heart ^(C)that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. ¹¹ For the Scripture says, ^(D)“Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” ^12 (E)For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; ^(F)for the same Lord is Lord of all, ^(G)bestowing his riches on all who call on him. ¹³ For ^(H)“everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

¹² And there is ^(A)salvation ^(B)in no one else, for ^(C)there is no other ^(D)name under heaven given among men^[a] by which we must be saved.”

³⁰ And because of him^[a] you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us ^(A)wisdom from God, ^(B)righteousness and ^(C)sanctification and ^(D)redemption,
