16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and (A)God[a] will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. (B)There is sin that leads to death; (C)I do not say that one should pray for that.

For it is impossible, in the case of those (A)who have once been enlightened, who have tasted (B)the heavenly gift, and (C)have shared in the Holy Spirit, and (D)have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and (E)then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since (F)they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, (A)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And (B)if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

26 For (A)if we go on sinning deliberately (B)after receiving the knowledge of the truth, (C)there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 (D)but a fearful expectation of judgment, and (E)a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 (F)Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy (G)on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one (H)who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned (I)the blood of the covenant (J)by which he was sanctified, and has (K)outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, (L)“Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, (M)“The Lord will judge his people.” 31 (N)It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The Lord Rebukes Job's Friends

After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz (A)the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. Now therefore take (B)seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and (C)offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall (D)pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.” (E)So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the Lord had told them, and the Lord accepted Job's prayer.

18 Then I (A)lay prostrate before the Lord (B)as before, forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all the sin that you had committed, (C)in doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke him to anger. 19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure that the Lord bore against you, so that he was ready to destroy you. (D)But the Lord listened to me that time also. 20 And the Lord was so angry with Aaron that he was ready to destroy him. And I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

26 And he spoke to the congregation, saying, (A)“Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.” 27 So they got away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood (B)at the door of their tents, together with their wives, their sons, and their little ones. 28 And Moses said, “Hereby you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, and that it has not been (C)of my own accord. 29 If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, (D)then the Lord has not sent me. 30 But if the Lord creates something new, and (E)the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they (F)go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the Lord.”

31 (G)And as soon as he had finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split apart. 32 And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and (H)all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods.

11 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people (A)despise me? And how long will they not (B)believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them? 12 I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I (C)will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”

Moses Intercedes for the People

13 But (D)Moses said to the Lord, “Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for you brought up this people in your might from among them, 14 and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. (E)They have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people. For you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and (F)your cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. 15 Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard your fame will say, 16 ‘It is because the Lord (G)was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to give to them that he has killed them in the wilderness.’ 17 And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, 18 (H)‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, (I)visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ 19 Please (J)pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just (K)as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”

God Promises Judgment

11 But (E)Moses implored the Lord his God and said, “O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 (F)Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and (G)relent from this disaster against your people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you (H)swore by your own self, and said to them, (I)‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’” 14 And the Lord (J)relented from the disaster that he had spoken of bringing on his people.
