¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

⁷ For ^(A)God has not given us a spirit of fear, ^(B)but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

¹⁵ For ^(A)you did not receive the spirit of bondage again ^(B)to fear, but you received the ^(C)Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ^(D)“Abba,^[a] Father.”

Seeing God Through Love

^12 (A)No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we ^[a]may ^(A)serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

¹⁹ You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
