⁶ I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,^[a] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may ^(A)be puffed up in favor of one against another.

¹⁹ Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is ^(A)in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and ^(B)all for your upbuilding, beloved.

⁴ For if someone comes and ^(A)proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept ^(B)a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

¹⁸ Let no one ^(A)disqualify you, ^(B)insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, ^(C)going on in detail about visions,^{[a] (D)}puffed up without reason by ^(E)his sensuous mind,

⁶ though if I should wish to boast, ^(A)I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me.

⁵ because ^(A)our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and ^(B)in the Holy Spirit and with full ^(C)conviction. You know ^(D)what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Gifts of Grace

³ For ^(A)by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you ^(B)not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, ^(C)each according to ^(D)the measure of faith that God has assigned.

²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, ^(A)“Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, ^(B)to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and ^(C)all are going to him.” ²⁷ John answered, ^(D)“A person cannot receive even one thing ^(E)unless it is given him ^(F)from heaven.

^7 (A)Look at what is before your eyes. ^(B)If anyone is confident that he is Christ's, let him remind himself that just as ^(C)he is Christ's, ^(D)so also are we.
