¹⁰ According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it. Let each builder choose with care how to build on it.^(A)

¹¹ For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.^(A)

²⁰ built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone;^[a](A)

²⁰ Thus I make it my ambition to proclaim the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, so that I do not build on someone else’s foundation,^(A)

³ Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky,^[a] and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.^(A)

The Faithful or the Unfaithful Slave

⁴⁵ “Who, then, is the faithful and wise slave whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves^[a] their allowance of food at the proper time?^(A)

¹⁹ The foundations of the wall of the city are adorned with every jewel; the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,

² If I am not an apostle to others, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.^(A)

Hearers and Doers

²⁴ “Everyone, then, who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.^(A)

¹¹ Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.^(A)
