There Is No Other Gospel

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are confusing you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.(A) But even if we or an angel[a] from heaven should proclaim to you a gospel contrary to what we proclaimed to you, let that one be accursed!(B) As we have said before, so now I repeat, if anyone proclaims to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let that one be accursed!

10 Am I now seeking human approval or God’s approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ.(C)

Paul’s Vindication of His Apostleship

11 For I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel that was proclaimed by me is not of human origin,(D) 12 for I did not receive it from a human source, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Final Greetings and Benediction

12 Through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, I have written this short letter to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.(A)

For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures(A) and that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures(B) and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.(C) Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.[a] Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.(D) Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.(E) For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.(F) 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I but the grace of God that is with me.(G) 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you believed.

16 And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, they immediately receive it with joy. 17 But they have no root and endure only for a while; then, when trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away.[a] 18 And others are those sown among the thorns: these are the ones who hear the word, 19 but the cares of the age and the lure of wealth and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, and it yields nothing. 20 And these are the ones sown on the good soil: they hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.”

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were made not with persuasive words of wisdom[a] but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,(A) so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

The True Wisdom of God

Yet among the mature we do speak wisdom, though it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are being destroyed.(B) But we speak God’s wisdom, a hidden mystery, which God decreed before the ages for our glory
