⁷ It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.^(A)

⁸ Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.^(A)

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross,^[a] so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds^[b] you have been healed.^(A)

⁴ Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant^(A)

²⁴ And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, patient,^(A)

¹² If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we still more?

Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.^(A)

³ Share in suffering like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. ⁴ No one serving in the army gets entangled in everyday affairs; the soldier’s aim is to please the enlisting officer. ⁵ And in the case of an athlete, no one is crowned without competing according to the rules.^{(A) 6} It is the farmer who does the work who ought to have the first share of the crops. ⁷ Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.

⁸ Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David—that is my gospel, ⁹ for which I suffer hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained.^{(B) 10} Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.^(C)

² Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill^[a] the law of Christ.^(A)

⁵ As for you, be sober in everything, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.^(A)
