¹³ No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but ^(A)God is faithful, ^(B)who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to ^[a]bear it.

⁹ then ^(A)the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

^18 (A)And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. ^(B)To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!

⁸ Be ^[a]sober, be ^[b]vigilant; ^[c]because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. ⁹ Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

³ But ^(A)the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and ^(B)guard you from the evil one.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those ^(A)who are the called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For whom ^(B)He foreknew, ^(C)He also predestined ^(D)to be conformed to the image of His Son, ^(E)that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover whom He predestined, these He also ^(F)called; whom He called, these He also ^(G)justified; and whom He justified, these He also ^(H)glorified.

God’s Everlasting Love

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? ^(I)If God is for us, who can be against us? ^32 (J)He who did not spare His own Son, but ^(K)delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? ^(L)It is God who justifies. ^34 (M)Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, ^(N)who is even at the right hand of God, ^(O)who also makes intercession for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written:

^37 (Q)Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor ^(R)principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, ³⁹ nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

^4 (A)You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.

¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against ^(A)principalities, against powers, against ^(B)the rulers of ^[a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ^13 (C)Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand ^(D)in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

^8 (A)Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. ⁹ And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly ^(B)I will rather boast in my infirmities, ^(C)that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore ^(D)I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. ^(E)For when I am weak, then I am strong.
