^27 [a]Nun his son, and ^(A)Joshua his son.

¹⁶ These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to ^[a]spy out the land. And Moses called ^(A)Hoshea^[b] the son of Nun, Joshua.

⁸ from the tribe of Ephraim, ^[a]Hoshea the son of Nun;

¹³ So Moses arose with ^(A)his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.

⁹ And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with ^(A)the rod of God in my hand.” ¹⁰ So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ And so it was, when Moses ^(B)held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. ¹² But Moses’ hands became ^[a]heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. ¹³ So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

¹⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(C)“Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that ^(D)I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”

⁸ For if ^[a]Joshua had ^(A)given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.

^45 (A)which our fathers, having received it in turn, also brought with Joshua into the land possessed by the Gentiles, ^(B)whom God drove out before the face of our fathers until the ^(C)days of David,

^23 (A)Then He inaugurated Joshua the son of Nun, and said, ^(B)“Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land of which I swore to them, and I will be with you.”

¹⁸ And the Lord said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man ^(A)in whom is the Spirit, and ^(B)lay your hand on him;
