For (A)a tent[a] was prepared, the first section, in which were (B)the lampstand and (C)the table and (D)the bread of the Presence.[b] It is called the Holy Place. Behind (E)the second curtain was a second section[c] called the Most Holy Place, having the golden (F)altar of incense and (G)the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was (H)a golden urn holding the manna, and (I)Aaron's staff that budded, and (J)the tablets of the covenant. Above it were (K)the cherubim of glory overshadowing (L)the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.

These preparations having thus been made, (M)the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties, but into the second only (N)the high priest goes, and he but (O)once a year, and not without taking blood, (P)which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people. By this the Holy Spirit indicates that (Q)the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing

13 Then he measured the temple, (A)a hundred cubits long; and the yard and the building with its walls, a hundred cubits long; 14 also the breadth of the east front of the temple and the yard, a hundred cubits.

15 Then he measured the length of (B)the building facing the yard that was at the back and (C)its galleries[a] on either side, a hundred cubits.

The inside of the nave and the vestibules of the court, 16 (D)the thresholds and (E)the narrow windows and the galleries all around the three of them, opposite the threshold, were paneled with wood all around, from the floor up to the windows (now the windows were covered), 17 to the space above the door, even to the inner room, and on the outside. And on all the walls all around, inside and outside, was a measured pattern.[b]

And the side chambers were in three stories, one over another, (A)thirty in each story. There were offsets[a] all around the wall of the temple to serve as supports for the side chambers, (B)so that they should not be supported by the wall of the temple. And it became broader as it wound upward to the side chambers, because the temple was enclosed upward all around the temple. Thus the temple had a broad area upward, and (C)so one went up from the lowest story to the top story through the middle story. I saw also that the temple had a raised platform all around; the foundations of the side chambers measured a full reed of (D)six long cubits. The thickness of the outer wall of the side chambers was five cubits. (E)The free space between the side chambers of the temple and the 10 (F)other chambers was a breadth of (G)twenty cubits all around the temple on every side. 11 And the doors of the (H)side chambers opened on (I)the free space, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south. And the breadth of the free space was five cubits all around.

These are Solomon's (A)measurements[a] for building the house of God: (B)the length, in cubits[b] of the old standard, was sixty cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits. The vestibule in front of the nave of the house was twenty cubits long, equal to the width of the house,[c] and its height was 120 cubits. He overlaid it on the inside with pure gold. (C)The nave he lined with cypress and covered it with fine gold (D)and made palms and chains on it. He adorned the house with settings of precious stones. The gold was gold of Parvaim. So he lined the house with gold—its beams, its thresholds, its walls, and its doors—(E)and he carved cherubim on the walls.

(F)And he made the Most Holy Place. Its length, corresponding to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and its breadth was twenty cubits. He overlaid it with 600 talents[d] of fine gold. The weight of gold for the nails was fifty shekels.[e] And he overlaid (G)the upper chambers with gold.

10 (H)In the Most Holy Place he made two cherubim of wood[f] and overlaid[g] them with gold.
