¹² David was afraid of God that day; he said, “How can I bring the ark of God into my care?”

²⁷ “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, much less this house that I have built!^(A)

²⁰ Then the people of Beth-shemesh said, “Who is able to stand before the Lord, this holy God? To whom shall he go so that we may be rid of him?”^(A)

¹⁰ So they sent the ark of the God of Israel^[a] to Ekron. But when the ark of God came to Ekron, the people of Ekron cried out, “Why^[b] have they brought around to us^[c] the ark of the God of Israel to kill us and our^[d] people?” ¹¹ They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it return to its own place, that it may not kill us and our^[e] people.” For there was a deathly panic throughout the whole city. The hand of God was very heavy there;^(A)

¹² The Israelites said to Moses, “We are perishing; we are lost; all of us are lost! ¹³ Everyone who approaches the tabernacle of the Lord will die. Are we all to perish?”^(A)

⁸ But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’s knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” ⁹ For he and all who were with him were astounded at the catch of fish that they had taken,

²⁴ Then the one who had received the one talent also came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew that you were a harsh man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter,^(A)

⁵ And I said, “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”^(A)
