¹¹ Beloved, I urge you ^(A)as sojourners and exiles ^(B)to abstain from the passions of the flesh, ^(C)which wage war against your soul.

³⁰ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

^41 (A)Watch and ^(B)pray that you ^(C)may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

²¹ So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. ²² For ^(A)I delight in the law of God, ^(B)in my inner being, ²³ but I see in my members ^(C)another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

¹⁵ The saying is ^(A)trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus ^(B)came into the world to save sinners, ^(C)of whom I am the foremost. ¹⁶ But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. ¹⁷ To ^(D)the King of the ages, ^(E)immortal, ^(F)invisible, ^(G)the only God, ^(H)be honor and glory forever and ever.^[a] Amen.
