11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life,(A) and this life is in his Son.(B) 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.(C)

Concluding Affirmations

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God(D) so that you may know that you have eternal life.(E) 14 This is the confidence(F) we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.(G) 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know(H) that we have what we asked of him.(I)

16 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life.(J) I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death.(K) I am not saying that you should pray about that.(L) 17 All wrongdoing is sin,(M) and there is sin that does not lead to death.(N)

18 We know that anyone born of God(O) does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one(P) cannot harm them.(Q) 19 We know that we are children of God,(R) and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.(S) 20 We know also that the Son of God has come(T) and has given us understanding,(U) so that we may know him who is true.(V) And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.(W)

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
